About

Keane Tay is a multidisciplinary designer based in Singapore, working across experience, product and systems design. His practice is driven by curiosity and a tendency to look beyond a single discipline, moving between research, strategy and design to understand complex problems and turn them into considered experiences.

His work has explored a wide range of contexts, from financial inclusion and digital accessibility to career development, workplace systems and human performance. He was part of the winning team at the Visa Financial Inclusion Designathon 2024, developing an experience centred on making everyday payments more accessible to older adults. He later worked with GovTech Singapore through the A11y Playground, where his team placed first with an approach designed to help organisations make digital accessibility easier to understand and adopt.

Keane graduated from the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts under the University of the Arts Singapore with a BA (Hons) in Design Practice. In 2026, he was named Best Graduate of the programme and received the Ngee Ann Kongsi Gold Medal. He was also selected as Valedictorian for NAFA at the University of the Arts Singapore Convocation and recognised at the DBCS Top Seed Awards 2026.

Alongside his experience and systems work, Keane is developing For Future Reference, an independent design practice exploring the relationship between performance, clothing, technology and the body. The project began as an investigation into thermal comfort in Singapore’s climate and has since grown into a broader exploration of performance systems, material innovation and how design can respond to the demands placed on the human body.

Before studying Design Practice, Keane trained in Interior Architecture, giving him a foundation in spatial thinking that continues to influence how he approaches experiences today. His work has since moved between physical, digital and spatial contexts, but the way he approaches them has remained relatively consistent. He likes learning unfamiliar subjects, questioning assumptions and connecting ideas that might not immediately seem related.

Rather than defining himself through a particular medium, Keane is interested in what happens when different disciplines, people and perspectives meet. Whether he is working on a digital product, a physical experience or something that sits somewhere between the two, he believes good design begins with understanding the problem well enough to know what is actually worth making.

He is always interested in thoughtful collaborations, unfamiliar problems and opportunities to build things that can make a meaningful difference.
